During a Systematic Kinesiology treatment, I use Bach Flower remedies as a way of supporting clients to gently rebalance their emotions. Bach remedies are used in kinesiology through muscle testing, a technique that has the capacity to reveal which remedies will support you emotionally.
There is another way that we can work with these remedies, tree and flower essences that Doctor Bach found help people to process emotions, which can be used to support you in your journey to living a healthy balanced life. This approach is called the Colour Card Test, which can be experienced both online and in person.
What is the Colour Card Test and how does it work?
In 1947, Swiss psychologist and colour consultant Max Luscher, developed a colour test that was based on the idea that personality traits can be identified by the colour preferences of any individual.

According to Luscher, this test enabled psychologists to have a deeper understanding of a client's personality and how to help them through the use of colour therapy.
Since then, the test was adapted and the Bach remedies that correlated to the emotions of the cards were integrated.
What does a Colour Card Test treatment look like?
During a treatment, we will start by identifying what emotional issue/trauma/unwanted feeling or goal you want some support with. For example, you may be feeling irritated by a family member which is impacting your capacity to remain calm. Or you may be experiencing anxiety about an upcoming presentation and want to feel confident and centered. You can also choose the emotion and keep it to yourself, should it not be something you're ready to share. It's really up to you.
Once we have settled on the focus of the treatment, you will focus on the emotion and connect with it in your body. You can do this with your eyes opened or closed. The colour cards will be laid out in front of you and once you've connected with the feelings in your body, you will then, without thinking about it, select the colour cards one by one and place them in a line in the order in which they are selected. The key to the selection process is to choose without thinking. You will be surprised how easily you do this.
I will then arrange the cards in accordance with Luscher's extensive research, and select the Bach remedy that goes with each colour card combination. I will then explain what emotions each remedy means in relation to the emotion you are seeking some support with. This is an opportunity for us to explore, at a level comfortable to you, what you've been experiencing and what other ways there are of understanding yourself there are that may bring you back into a more balanced and harmonious way of being.
I have been amazed at how powerful this treatment is and the level of accuracy that the Colour Card Test and its correlating remedies suggest. A client recently came for a treatment, initially skeptical about how colour cards and the treatment would work. Post-treatment, he shared with me his thoughts:
Emotionally I felt a real lack of clarity and was in turmoil, not really knowing how to be with some key emotions from past traumatic experiences. Layla was able to sensitively guide me through the emotion I was focusing on, exploring ways of understanding myself in ways I'd not considered before.
